This is a voluntary form for Island residents only, that have purchased a mare who is barren or in foal from another jurisdiction and plan to keep the mare on PEI for breeding purposes. This form will establish the mare’s date of arrival on PEI for residency purposes. This form can be submitted at any time during the breeding/foaling year. Island residents need only register their mare at time of purchase. Information collected on this form will be used to establish accurate statistics on the breeding industry on PEI.

Those that are boarding mares on PEI for non Island residents must fill out the PEI Resident Mare Declaration Form on this website for each year that the mare resides on PEI and foals on PEI. That form must be submitted to the PEIHRIA by no later than December 1st to establish the mare’s residency for 183 days on PEI in the foaling year and the resulting foal’s eligibility for nomination to the Lady Slipper/Joe O’Brien Stake.
